Shaping a Brave New World: CCOs Forging Business Purpose, Societal Impact and Humanity

CCOs are positioned at the nexus of stakeholder capitalism, managing complex business decisions, social commitments, employee demands and rapid technological change. They are required to reconcile differing, sometimes contradictory interests, from climate and geopolitics to the significant implications of technology. With the rise of the decentralized Web, virtual worlds will further merge with the physical world, massively shifting how corporations are perceived and valued by employees and shareholders alike. Add in rising geopolitical tensions and deglobalization and navigating this new reality is even more complex. Are you ready for this next wave of change? At this year’s Annual Conference, we’ll explore the vital role of the CCO in this new world today and in the future.

Reconnect with your Page friends and colleagues in Chicago on September 18-20. If you have any questions, please contact Lauren Kramon.

New Conference Format

The world is transforming, and so is #PageAnnual. Every moment you spend at the conference will be built with interaction, collaboration and connection at the center.

Whether you join in-person or virtually, we're unlocking the power of active learning with our new full-room collective learning model. This means that interaction will be present throughout the program rather than in siloed breakouts.

So, this year, you won't just be part of the audience—you'll be an active participant in everyone's shared learning.

GlobalFoundries semiconductors are revolutionizing the Internet of Things (IoT), personal computing, communications infrastructure, and data centers. Recent supply chain challenges highlight the industry's critical role. As pressure mounts in Taiwan, which currently dominates the global semiconductor market, the U.S. market is paving the way for $52 billion of investments in domestic semiconductor manufacturing. Accordingly, GF is expanding in the U.S., Europe, and Singapore, and CEO Dr. Thomas Caulfield continues to grow the company by not only focusing on market opportunities but also on corporate responsibility and equity issues to enable the success of the company and help transform the industry. Dr. Caulfield joins Page member and Chief Communications Officer Laurie Kelly to discuss these issues and how they have elevated the company’s public profile and contributed to a massive increase in public understanding of semiconductors and their impact on nations’ economies, competitiveness and national security.

Dr. Thomas Caulfield, CEO, President GlobalFoundries

Interviewed by Laurie Doyle Kelly, CCO, GlobalFoundries

2:55 - 3:25 p.m. Hot Topic Exploration

Locally and globally, a deluge of emerging issues is pressuring CCOs to act definitively, pivot deftly, and cultivate resilience. These global crises represent the extremes of malnutrition and put food growers and manufacturers at the center of a worsening situation. A year ago, could you have predicted that the war in Ukraine would trigger a global famine? The complexities and interconnectedness of the global food supply impact everyone and “more of the same” solutions simply aren’t going to cut it. This diverse panel of experts will explore what’s new in global food— from food waste to novel protein sources to innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships to predictive analytics. Magnifying this challenge is that in our polarized society, virtually every issue becomes politicized. How do you proceed? This unique session—featuring an extraordinary collection of leaders in business, public policy and journalism—will use a simulated but highly realistic crisis as the basis for a dynamic roundtable exploration of how a multinational organization must confront a range of stakeholder demands as it addresses a challenge that combines global public health concerns with business continuity. The session will explore the social, political, reputational, legal and public policy challenges today’s CEOs, CCOs and all business leaders must confront. CCOs are playing a leading role in guiding organizations through this new era. There is no one size fits all, and every organization must determine the right approach for its business, values and stakeholders. In this session, we’ll focus on three essential components of social impact—core products and services, ESG, and social advocacy—and explore how corporate brands are landing in different positions on these social impact imperatives. Page has and will review and revise this policy based on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and local jurisdiction guidance on COVID-19. Requirements will be updated accordingly.

As an attendee at the 2022 Page Annual Conference, you will:

Provide proof that you are fully vaccinated by uploading proof of your vaccination during the registration process or emailing it to safety@page.org prior to September 18. “Fully vaccinated,” for purposes of this event will follow CDC guidelines. Currently, this means that you received your single-dose or completed the second dose of a two-dose series of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to September 18. Boosters are strongly recommended if it has been five months or more since you received your second dose in a two-dose series, such as Pfizer or Moderna. If you received a single-dose vaccination, such as with Johnson & Johnson, boosters are strongly recommended if it has been two months since you received your vaccine. Vaccines administered outside the United States may include AstraZeneca/SK Bioscience, Serum Institute of India/COVISHIELD and Vaxzevria, Sinopharm, or Sinovac. If your provider is not on this list, please email safety@page.org.

Agree that you will not attend if you feel ill, are symptomatic in any way, or have had any exposure to someone with COVID-19.

Agree that you will respect other participants and take all advisable precautions recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), including, but not limited to, engaging in appropriate physical distancing, participating in the frequent washing of hands, avoiding risky environments and behaviors and choosing not to shake hands except by expressed mutual consent.

Acknowledge that, due to the circumstances created by COVID-19, there is a heightened degree of personal risk and responsibility associated with attendance. You will not hold Page or the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, their officers, directors, employees or agents accountable, whether directly or indirectly, should you or your family contract illness arising out of your voluntary participation in the event.

Page will be taking the following precautions to encourage the health and safety of all attendees:

 • All attendees and Page event staff are required to be fully vaccinated.
 • We will follow all CDC and local guidelines in effect at the time.
 • Page has asked the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel to sanitize all event spaces, public areas, dining & bar locations and guest rooms.
 • In keeping with CDC guidelines, masks are encouraged but not required.

Please be advised that all meals will be held inside.
